This accelerated, practical course equips learners with essential skills and industry knowledge, preparing you for employment or progression onto further qualifications such as the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plumbing and Heating. Delivered over 15 intensive weekends, the course combines hands-on practical experience with classroom-based theory, ensuring you gain real-world skills in a domestic plumbing environment.

What you'll learn

This Diploma provides a comprehensive foundation in plumbing and heating, including the knowledge and practical skills needed to work safely and effectively in the industry. You’ll learn how to:

  • Work safely within Building Services Engineering
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers
  • Prepare sites and fabricate pipework for domestic systems
  • Install and maintain domestic cold water systems
  • Install and maintain domestic hot water systems
  • Install and maintain domestic central heating systems
  • Install and maintain above-ground drainage systems
  • Understand electrical systems used in plumbing and heating
  • Apply scientific principles used within the plumbing industry

The course focuses on real-world, domestic plumbing environments to ensure you’re job-ready on completion.

How you'll learn

This is an accelerated 15-week weekend course, designed for those who cannot attend weekday training due to work or family commitments.

  • Weekend delivery (Saturday & Sunday) from 9am – 4pm
  • Face-to-face teaching at our Southampton training centre
  • Small class sizes (maximum 6 learners) for close tutor support
  • Morning theory sessions, afternoon practical training and assessment
  • Self-directed study at home using training packs and course books
  • Demonstrations, assignments, and practical workshops
