The NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing and Heating is a nationally recognised, work-based qualification designed for those looking to become competent plumbing and heating engineers in the UK. This qualification covers the practical aspect of the full NVQ, which is achieved through onsite assessment and the building of a workplace portfolio.

Learners demonstrate real, on-the-job competence while developing the confidence and ability required to work independently in the industry. The Diploma in Plumbing & Heating (the theory element) is a mandatory entry requirement and must be completed before undertaking this NVQ.

What you'll learn

You’ll develop the practical skills and technical knowledge needed to work safely and effectively in domestic plumbing and heating, including:

  • Installing, servicing, and maintaining plumbing systems in buildings
  • Safe working practices within building services engineering
  • Pipework fabrication and site preparation techniques
  • Installation and maintenance of cold water, hot water, and central heating systems
